This is home to Queensland’s largest herd of Llamas (75) and you will also see donkeys, miniature ponies, a large flock of peacocks, Chinese geese, turkeys, guinea fowl and two big fluffy white Maremma dogs, Lucy and Lola, whose job is to guard the poultry. Coucals of Mount Crosby is a private hillside garden of four acres. A variety of “rooms” have been created (using local sandstone) at different levels linked by meandering paths, with seats and gazebos to sit and enjoy the view. A guided tour of approximately 1 -1.5 hours of the major themes of the museum will be given. These include Brisbane people and WW11, interaction between Australian and American soldiers, experiences of children and wartime entertainment, the role of the railway, and the impact on Brisbane of the presence of the Navy, Army, and Airforce personnel. These are popular concerts featuring the latest general of brilliant young musicians. The concert provides and hour or so of the finest music especially chosen for mid-week morning listening in the Concert Hall of Brisbane’s historic Old Museum, home to Queensland Youth Orchestra.
