Government House is a heritage-listed mansion and is the official residence of the governor of Queensland, the representative of the Australian monarch in Queensland. You will be given a 90 minute tour led by a knowledgeable guide. Tour includes light refreshments. Go behind-the scenes at Government House and explore rooms including the Drawing Room, State Dining Room, Investiture Room, and Billiard Room. You will also learn about the history of the House and the Constitutional, Ceremonial and Community roles of the governor. This tour involves walking, comfortable shoes are recommended. To be held at the Woody Point Memorial Hall. Woody Point is a state heritage listed building with a rich history built in 1922. Even more appropriate to hold this roadshow there. Sandgate’s Historical Society Museum is bringing their President Pamela Verney to us to show us some of their antique memorabilia, explaining what it is and how old the item is etc. Pamela has also invited any members coming along to the roadshow who have anything themselves they would like to share to please bring it along on the day. Old photos, antique gifts, collectibles and home décor, old magazines, old cameras, rare coins or notes, old china etc. Morning tea will be provided and lunch will be at the Scarborough Bowls Club. A marine mammal park, aquarium and theme park. You have a few shows you can choose to watch. They are Seal Guardians Feature Presentation at Seal Theatre show starting at 10:15am. Join the talented marine mammal trainers to learn behind the scenes how they do it and what they do. It is at the front of the park and wheelchair friendly. Little Penguins Keeper Talk at Penguin Point starting at 10:45am. Interactive presentation with the keepers and the little penguins. Get a rare and educational insight into the nature of these amazing birds. Affinity Dolphin Presentation at 11:30am . Enjoy a truly unique experience where you will join Sea World’s dolphins trained and meet these beautiful mammals while gaining an insight into their precious world. Duration 20 mins. Polar Bear Keeper Talk at the Polar Bear Shores at Sea World at 12:30pm. The exhibit replicates the Arctic summer and the bears can choose where they would like to rest and play. Often you will spot them relaxed and asleep on the exhibit. These shows are all included in your admission cost. Food and drink are not permitted to bring in park. However fruit and bottled water is exempt. Lunch is at members expense. Wear comfortable shoes and maybe a hat. Cost includes bus and admission.
